Some recurring costs are never entered as subscriptions. Looking at repeated expense patterns can reveal commitments worth tracking.

Look for repeated merchants

Review historical expenses for the same merchant appearing at regular intervals. Weekly, monthly and annual patterns are useful starting points.

Check the timing and amount

A recurring pattern is stronger when both the interval and amount are reasonably consistent. Irregular purchases should not automatically be treated as subscriptions.

Compare against what you already track

Before adding a new recurring commitment, check existing bills and subscriptions to avoid duplicate records.

Decide whether the pattern matters

Not every recurring purchase needs a subscription record. Focus on expenses that are meaningful enough to monitor or plan around.
